Factory Information:
Pottery from the Boleslawiec Region of Poland is among the most famous in the world.
"WIZA"
was started in 1963 by Stanislaw Wiza. The factory was rebuilt on the
site of two previous potteries "Tuppak" and "Silesia". Initially it was
a very small concern with few employees and few small electric kilns.
The pottery flourished due to careful attention to design, both in body
shapes and patterns. The manufacturing process was also improved, new
kilns better clays general attention to detail. All this achieved
results both at home and abroad. At present we employ about 120 people.
We make functional and beautiful table wares, kitchen wares and
ornaments.
WR Unikat has over 20 years
experience in the ceramics industry. It, like many other factories in
the Boleslawiec region, located there because of the high quality clay
that is available to make the special Polish pottery stoneware that
comes from the region. For years they made high quality ceramics and
did not get into the traditional Polish pottery tableware market. But
due to a booming market for Polish pottery, they entered the market.
And when they did, they entered with a new concept in design. Their
decision was to make a Unikat product, hence the name.
Manufaktura: Pottery is
their passion!
Zaklady Ceramiczne & Ceramika Artystyczna:
During WWII the stoneware factories and the region were devastated.
After the war, from "the town of good clay" emerged Ceramika
Artystyczna and Zaklady Ceramiczne Boleslawiec stoneware factories.
They remain the two largest cooperatives and producers of Signature,
Unikat "Unique" and Traditional Polish Pottery in the region.
